Susan Fisher

Susan Fisher grew up in a Plymouth Brethren church on the north shore of Long Island. She was baptized in that church where her father was one of the lay leaders and occasionally brought the message. There was a strong emphasis on knowing the Bible since there was no formal minister and all were expected to go to the scriptures themselves. Susan graduated from Houghton College, a Wesleyan Methodist school in upstate New York where she majored in Business Administration and minored in both Biblical Studies and Fine Art, a rather unusual combination of studies. Perhaps that allows her to bring an ethical approach to her profession as a Certified Financial Planner™. Susan specializes in charitable planning and serves on the Executive Board of the YMCA and investment and planned giving committees of the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle in Doylestown.

Susan joined COHS about ten years ago coming from a local Mennonite congregation. Her first exposure to COHS was when she delivered the calligraphy pages of the original COHS Memorial Book that her daughter Kate had painted. Her second exposure was when she was on a plane coming back from Barcelona and met a COHS attendee sitting next to her. Getting rave reviews, she then decided to visit and has attended ever since.

Susan has three children and six grandchildren (as of 2021) and is married to Nick Custer, a practicing Quaker, who has one son. They live in Telford with their 18-year-old cat, Maggie. Susan and Nick enjoy hiking, biking, reading and traveling. Nick is the chef in the family which pleases Susan immensely.
